  • Cast from Hit Points: In the Memory World RPG (the Shadow RPG), the Ba Gauge served as both hit points and magic points for the character cards, since the real life versions of these characters used their life energy (Ba) to summon and power-up their Monster Spirits (Ka).
  • Zorc Necrophades, the demonic entity who created the Shadow Realm, fits perfectly into the spot originally held by Bandai's recurring Final Boss character, the demon-god of the cards "DarkNite" (or " NiteMare"), who in Forbidden Memories is revealed to be the creator of the Shadow Games.
  • EGYPTIAN GOD YU GI OH SERIES

Mana, who in the original series canon is the not-yet Dark Magician Girl, serves as the Pharaoh's childhood friend, a role which in Forbidden Memories was filled by doppelgangers of Joey and Tea (who would presumably reincarnate into their modern selves). The Pharaoh's priests in general are prefigured by Bandai's mages, who also held the Millenium Items the mages, however, were villains working with Heishin against the pharaoh.Akhenaden fills Heishin's role as the traitorous mystic conspiring in league with an ancient evil and his attempts to court Seto to his cause are reminiscent of Bandai's priest Seto being The Dragon for Heishin.Siamun (Sugoroku's former self) is straight up based on his Bandai games self, though his face is exposed and he no longer has blue skin.Broad Strokes: While these characters are canon to the original series, many of them fill or otherwise approximate roles from the Bandai games canon, many of which first appeared in Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories.Using a combination of Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and his trusted Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl, Yugi was able to destroy The Winged Dragon of Ra, as well as Marik’s evil alter-ego, putting a stop to him, as well as earning ownership of all three Egyptian God Cards. Yugi had a lot on his plate when he had to destroy it in the finals of Battle City. When Marik used Monster Reborn to revive Ra, he could pay all but 1 of his Life Points to increase Ra’s ATK to the amount paid or pay 1000 Life Points to completely eradicate an opposing monster. It’s most fearsome abilities, however, could only be used when it was Special Summoned from the Graveyard. IIt’s ATK and DEF were the total ATK and DEF of the monsters Tributed to Summon it. The Winged Dragon of Ra, like the other Egyptian God Cards, required 3 monsters to be Tributed in order to Summon it to the field. In order to unlock the sphere you must recite a sacred text readable only by a select few, and only under the light of Ra! Marik is able to recite this text, which allows him to take control of Ra and win the duel easily. This is a safeguard The Winged Dragon of Ra possesses in order to stop those without the right to control it from abusing its powers. With this clear advantage, she attempts to Summon Ra, only to discover that it appears in a useless Sphere Form if a Duelist without the right to wield its power tries to use it. Later on, during the real Marik Ishtar’s quarter-final match against Mai Valentine, Mai is able to use the effect of her Amazoness Chain Master to steal The Winged Dragon of Ra from Marik’s hand. It shows just how powerful it is by striking at both Joey and Odion, ending the Duel, forcing Odion into a bed to nurse his injuries, and forcing Marik to lose control over his true self, releasing his evil alter-ego once and for all. Marik convinces Odion to Summon it, but as soon as Odion attempts to attack with his copy of Ra, the real Winged Dragon within Marik’s Deck lashes out in anger at the use of the counterfeit card. Odion took Marik’s identity and was given a fake version of The Winged Dragon of Ra to use in his Deck as well as a counterfeit Millennium Rod.ĭuring his Duel with Joey Wheeler, Odion draws The Winged Dragon of Ra but is too scared to use it because of the danger of Summoning such a powerful card.

Marik Ishtar, the evil tomb keeper bent on world domination (as well as revenge on the Pharaoh!) sent his adopted brother Odion to do his dirty work for him. High above Battle City, in Seto Kaiba’s “Kaiba Craft 3”, the quarter-final matches of the Battle City tournament took place.
